DA is dominated by artists who produce sub-par work. This particular person for example has an incredibly bad comic book style, yet has reached over 1 million views. His quick comics are badly drawn and rendered, not to mention poorly written, yet he receives praise constantly.
This crushes my spirits. If only that this was a good place to house my portfolio. I'm thinking I might just create a tumblog for my art. I care less about spreading my art digitally. All the people who matter that are going to see my art, don't use DeviantArt anyway. I'm better off submitting it all to real life galleries. Step out of my comfort zone. Create a professional place for my art. This feels so cheap and nasty.
Anyway, I'm going to leave this here. If you guys want to keep watching me that's fine, but if you want to unwatch, that's fine too.
I'm off to actually do something.

Art Block
Another art block is broken, but it always takes time to really get into a progressive state of art making. Its difficult because I hadn't used this website in such a long time. At the urging of a friend I am back though and I hope to show you some things that I have done soon. Thank you to the people who have stuck by me during this creative drought.
Journal
This is a journal entry. It's been some time since I've written one. How are you all? How is your art going?
After the Storm
Alright, my mood is improved somewhat, and I've gone and done a lot of work outside of DA. Which has made me feel better. I'm working on a video game with my brother now, and it's still in it's development stage. We've got a lot of work ahead of us. The first is always the hardest they say. But once I've got something to show, we should be able to recruit more local talent who are willing to work for free. The great thing about studying with game designers I suppose. We're all noobs trying to make names for ourselves. May as well start somewhere. It's stupid to think you won't be doing freebies immediately after finishing an animation degree,
Update 2
Either all my watchers have abandoned DeviantArt or my work is really crap >.<
Back to Uni soon, two weeks! Then I'll have one semester and have completed my Animation Degree.
It's been a long long road, three years of study. I'm 23 now, and I am older and wiser and better
than I used to be. I still have a very long way to go though, I mustn't give up!
Wish me luck guys!

Dude, art is always going to be subjective! And while people's tastes may seem crappy, just remember that deviantart represents soooo many artists, it's going to be near impossible to have everyone recognised for their hidden talents if they don't all have ads and memberships and heaps of friends who get everyone to follow them and get off to a good start. I'm really glad to hear that you're stepping out of your comfort zoen, but DA is a good place to renew and refresh your artistic soul by looking at all the different work, and remembering that everything is art. You never know, you may stumble across a well known/ little known member and become inspired to do great things! Don't lose faith!
